We’re holding or first comedy night shortly on Thursday October
7th. It’s in a terrific venue—no’ accident that this
purpose built comedy
club behind the George
IV Pub on Chiswick High Road has fast become one of the capital’s
favourite laughter venues and the home of the well known ‘Headliners’.
It’s also accessible easily by PT (walking or public transport).
It’s close to Turnham Green Tube, and well served by back to back
buses (27, 65, 94, 190, 237, 267, 272, 391, 440, E3 and H91) as well
as N9 and N11.
You can order your tickets straight away at a price of £12 each
either by downloading the booking form
and sending us a cheque made out to Act Against Bullying (details on
form) or via the wizardry
of Pay Pal. You’ll get acknowledgement we’ve got the
money and advance tickets will be kept at the door to be collected that
evening. We’re opening the doors at 7.30pm and once inside you
can get drinks and food if you wish to do so. It should be a great night
for you, particularly as some of the talent is amongst the funniest
around.
Jarred
Christmas The Evening Standard described him as ‘fabulously
boisterous kiwi’ and Time Out matched it with ‘human red
bull’ Jarred draws his comedy sketches from life experiences and
random happenings. He was named best compere at the 2010 Chortle Awards,
at the third time of being nominated. Also, he’s recently featured
on Flight Of the Conchords (for anyone who’s a fan). ‘The
star of the show was undoubtedly headliner Jarred Christmas,’
was just one crit I read ‘a big, playful lug of a comedian who’s
the closest thing stand-up has to a human teddy-bear.’. Anyway,
come along and see for yourself.
Also on the bill is the winner of th
e
FHM Search For A Stand-Up Hero Competition in 2009 Marlon
Davis. In 2006, he was a finalist in both the So You Think
You're Funny and Laughing Horse new act competitions. ‘Still a
relative newcomer, Marlon Davis bursts on to the stage like a breath
of fresh air, with impish grin, boyish enthusiasm and an effortlessly
open, confident style that instantly wins him friends in the audience,’
writes the editor of Chortle, Steven Bennett. And he should know.
You may well then recognise the personable face of the Grim Reaper Virgin
Atlantic ad campaign in the show. But, jus tot let you know, aside from
writing speeches for ex-football manager Graham Taylor and ex-prime
minister Gordon Brown, Tim Clark
is one of the stalwarts of the pro comedy circuit. He was also the first
Brit to introduce our style of comedy to Beijing! A regular compere
at Jongleurs and the Comedy Store and co-host of Channel Four’s
‘Under the Moon’ he’s performing in aid of AAB in
Chiswick on the 7th October.
Stunning, original newcomers are great to watch. Of his performance
at
Edinburgh
last year, the ‘British Theatre Review’ wrote up Tommy
Ettling as “young, talented and very, very funny…
truly original” . He’s been on the circuit for around four
years, including supporting Richard Lewis in Cobb’s Comedy in
San Francisco, and working on pilot projects with Mark Dolan and Frankie
Boyle for the networks. A semi-finalist in last year’s ‘So
You Think You’re Funny’ it’s obviously not long before
our Tom’s on our TV. So take the opportunity and come and see
him live in October.
Who is she? Well, I don’t know really. The ‘Blond
Bimbo' is a bit of an enigma. Self proclaimed ‘the
ditziest dj around’ her radio show on Rare FM is broadcast from
London’s heavyweight Uni UCL and BB has plumbed the depths for
them covering flirtatious interviews with comedy talent such as Sex
Pistol’s butter ad star Johnny ‘Rotten’ Lydon’s,
Andy Hamilton, Christian Steele, Julian Bennett, to name a few. Fresh
from her Edinburgh Festival run where she’s performing in Richard
Soames’s ‘Comedie: Deleted Scenes’ Brooke Burfitt
will be assist-compere and no doubt grab some more interviews with you
all
.
Why not come along and join us on that evening?
